Hello David!
I am currently looking at ways of re-engergising the Brussels RSA membership.
Early thoughts include extending our remit beyond this country. Initially to near neighbours but maybe beyond . Many of the Brussels fellows (like myself) have EMEA or global responsibilities. One of the strenghts of the RSA is the global network.
As Robin Thompson commented yesterday, many RSA issues are UK-centric. That being said, the UK has a global role to play across the EU 27 and beyond.
As a relative newcomer to the RSA I am still learning and discovering the its true nature. I would very much like to see a commom message platform that ensures the RSA is represented around the globe in a consistent fashion.
We have meetings scheduled at the end of next week to see how we can tke this further
Best regards
Geoff

Permalink Reply by David Clarke on June 14, 2010 at 15:32 Very good of you to be willing to take on the role of International Representative, David. Best of luck with what must seem like a huge and ambiguous assignment. I'm a new Fellow and am learning my way around the website. Since I only come to London one or twice a year, this will be my principle medium for engagement with RSA. As for what's uppermost on my mind, I'd have to say it's thinking and working with other RSA Fellows to make what some call The Programme of the Enlightenment credible and powerful again in the early 21st century. That's a "coded" way of describing what seems to me to be important work and, with time, I'm more than happy to discuss what it means with anyone who's interested.
On a purely procedural level, I will observe that there seems to be very little by way of orientation given to new Fellows, which might have the effect of causing Fellows to be less involved in the work of the RSA than they might otherwise want to be. Has that been discussed in any of the online forums?

Can we be connected at national conferences?. We are having one in Scotland in Edinburgh in September and it would be great to have some form of global connection live if possible. Have you any ideas re this aspect of your work? Look forward to hearing more from you. Australia seems to be going great guns- good for them. Kind regards
Frances
Permalink Reply by Cheryl Morgan on December 20, 2010 at 15:41 I am a member of iEARN International, (International Education and Resources Network). iEARN is a federation of 130 countries that have pioneered on-line collaborative project based learning programmes for youth since 1990. Through my many years with iEARN I have made many friendships with outstanding educators from every continent. What I would like to know is how/whether to recommend these colleagues to FRSA. I believe that they would be a fantastic force for innovation and fellowship within FRSA
I am a member from Seattle, USA but living (and working) in UK since 1991. I would be happy to share my experience in working within a global network of educators as RSA develops a truly international network. When I was in Seattle last summer I tried to access information about joining RSA for a fellow educator but couldn't find any network in the Pacific Northwest.

I think RSA has supported some very interesting projects in the Education domain and it would be very good to promote RSA to your colleagues at iEARN. With specific reference to the Pacific Northwest USA - I am no longer familiar with which fellows are active in the Seattle area but I will reach out to Lynn Broadbent, who looks after RSA-USA and see if there is a fellow or fellowship network there that she can connect you with.

Dave thanks for alerting me to Cheryl's message.
Hi Cheryl - yes we have Fellows in the Northwest, and coincidentally several in that region have recently been in touch. It looks very good for local networks to get something going in 2011! Let me know how I can help you with your colleagues.
Lynn Broadbent, US Fellowship Director.

Good to hear from you. Where are you located in the USA? I have homes in Raglan Wales and in Seattle. My main residence is in the US but I do get to Seattle at least once a year. In 2011 I am planning to be in Seattle in March and then over the summer. Would be happy to work with you to extend/expand RSA while I am there. Let me know how I might help.

Over the next few months the RSAde Group will be consolidating regional social networks and nings. The aim will be to improve connectivity for Fellows, improve communication and reduce fragmentation.
Therefore there will be an increase of regional and thematic groups over the next few months.
If you would like further information on these changes please contact the RSAde team via the Digital Engagement group on this network.
