Social Network for RSA Fellows

Overseas Fellows - What's On Your Mind?

I was elected to the Fellowship Council as the International representative. The Council members will first meet together at the RSA AGM on October 7th 2009. Whether you are in Africa, Australia, Europe, India, the USA or elsewhere outside the UK, please help me to understand what issues are uppermost on your mind. I want to help by providing a voice for overseas fellows at Council and also help propagate UK programmes and discussions overseas.

Please feel free to post comments below that are relevant to your experience as an overseas fellow.

Cheryl - I am in the Washington DC metro area.  I would love to connect when you are next over here - although we are doing a pretty good job via this ning!  We are working on a network event in Edmonton in March, and I am hearing from WA State Fellows that it's time to get something going a little closer to home.  I will add you to the US mailing list if you would like to send me your email.  Mine is LBroadbent@rsa-us.org.  You can also keep an eye on US events and news at www.rsa-us.org

Glad to hear there is interest in the Washington State area.  My next trip to USA takes me to the South (my husband and I are taking a Great Rail Journey of the Deep South in February/March 2011 -- from Atlanta to New Orleans and back followed by a fortnight in Seattle).  I would be very happy to be included on the US mailing list and have contacted a friend in California who would be a perfect fellow for RSA USA.

Cheryl-Hello! It would be good to have an US RSA Education network with subdivisions: Early Childhood, Elementary,

Secondary, University  and Life Span Education.  An on-going discussion among Fellows in all regions could be very

valuable. Surely a world view is sobering. There are several organizations here and abroad that work to improve/study/

support education, each with a point of view that reflects its founding principles. Several RSA Projects are operating in

education, here and in other countries that reflect our values and purposes. Do we know what they all are?

I'd go so far as to say that even though we are part of the UK, we (in Northern Ireland) may as well be India or Madagascar. To combat this, we're going to kickstart things ourselves. Moving from the led to the leader. Watch this space.
