'With regard to animals, our intuitions are inconsistent, that is, we are not close to a consensus on how animals ought to be treated. A basic principle is the contention that we must recognize that animals are objects of moral concern, just as human beings are, unless we can find some kind of morally relevant feature that distinguishes animals from humans.'
Bernie Rollins, 1981

Comment by Jonathan Jewell on November 3, 2011 at 11:05 Okay, membership of this group hasn't really taken off (yet!) but I'd be interested in what people were thinking from and where they were coming from when they joined this group.
I'd also like to hear your views on the above quotation by the Distinguished Professor Rollin, who is a prominent animal ethicist. I love this quotation, but I recognise it is hotly contested and bucks a world view that is yet to be seriously challenged (imho)

Over the next few months the RSAde Group will be consolidating regional social networks and nings. The aim will be to improve connectivity for Fellows, improve communication and reduce fragmentation.
Therefore there will be an increase of regional and thematic groups over the next few months.
If you would like further information on these changes please contact the RSAde team via the Digital Engagement group on this network.
