We have been using the Business Model Canvas (http://businessmodelgeneration.com) as the basis for the support work we have been doing for the Nottingham SE Hub (http://nottinghamsehub.com)
It's a really fantastic tool and wondered if anyone has has experiences of using it, and how it has gone.
If anyone want to know about the tool, look of the resources section of the hub site or come along to our workshop (http:aspirenbmc.eventbrite.com)

but from the screen shots it looks very reminiscent of a free business planning software tool that SAGE released a couple of years back, and also of some of the business planning toolkits that some of the UK High street banks used to offer with their business bank accounts - so assuming that there's a lot of overlap, those tools/approaches were a very useful way to help you to define your ideas with no prior experince of business development or management. That said, it could also be restructive at times as you were following pre-set paths of questions - for self-directed learning it was a good starting point, but even better if used in conjunction with a good business advisor/mentor
