RSA Fellowship Social Network

Social Network for RSA Fellows

@InspirateCIC is a social enterprise set up by Alastair Irvine (me) with the lofty aim of

  • Making money by providing accountancy and tax consultancy services
  • To support disabled entrepreneurs & social firms

For a sexy diagram explaining this please go here (pdf). It is early days for the company at the moment, but I am working on it.

I have significant experience to justify marketing myself in this way. I have worked in Tax Consultancy for nearly 6 years at Baker Tilly and am now Charities Tax Expert within my office. I have also spent 3 years working at Action for Blind People, advising disabled entrepreneurs starting up new businesses.

I know the theory of business start-up; have experience of starting social firms; and am an accountant who actually understands social enterprise to boot.

Tax consultancy feeds my family; volunteering for social enterprise feeds my soul.

If you need advice on accountancy, tax, basic legal structures or even a critique of a business plan then I am your man. I am very happy to answer questions and point social enterprises in the right direction for absolutely nothing.

Looking forward to helping out with any Fellows projects where I can.

Thanks Alastair - mixing promotion of paid-for services with an offer of free advice seems to me just the sort of blend that's need to build relationships and get useful discussions started. It also provides some practical inspiration for the Charter discussion. (see comment wall)
