Green spaces benefit physical and emotional health, by helping reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, and stress.
They also contribute to our sense of community, by creating spaces for recreation activities, for children to play, and for neighbours to meet and socialize.
Comment by Jeff Mowatt on March 29, 2013 at 10:53 A recent RSA video features philospher Thomass Pogge with a global plan to end poverty. He draws attention to wealth inequality and the absence of human rights adherence which led to the poorest being increasingly disenfrachised. While this is promoted by the RSA, there would seem to be a wilful deafness to the activist practioners.

Comment by Alicia Weston on March 20, 2013 at 15:35 Hi I run Parkholme Supperclub, an award winning supper club in London which is a social enterprise, if anyone is interested in coming do take a look at our website, www.parkholmesupperclub.co.uk. All profits go to Medecins Sans Frontieres (that's around £33,000 to date, including tax). You can eat fabulously AND support social enterprise... ;-)
Comment by Charlotte Britton on March 19, 2013 at 9:59 Great event in Leeds last night. I've written a review of the event
http://rsafellowship.com/profiles/blogs/leeds-empties-event-leeds-1...
Leeds Empties was set up by Rob Greenland and had Catalyst funding to help kick start the campaign.
More than 5000 homes in Leeds have been empty for more than six months.
At Leeds Empties they are developing a range of ways to bring empty properties back into use.

Comment by Jo Painter on March 8, 2013 at 10:59 Hi all,
I thought you may be interested in a competition for young social entrepreneurs across Europe, which is being run by Ashoka and Ben & Jerry's.
They are looking for social entrepreneurs ages 18-34 with innovative business models that have social impact and incorporate sustainability. The winner of 'Join Our Core' will receive financial support of 10,000 euros as well as 6 months of social business mentoring from Ashoka.
The competition will run from 4th March 2013 until 3rd May 2013. On 12th June 2013, 18 finalists from across Europe will travel to London to pitch their business to a panel of 10 expert judges, including Ben & Jerry's Co-Founder, Jerry Greenfield.
You can find more information, and enter online via: http://www.joinourcore.com/

What would you do with this space? The best idea to use this building in Wembley will be offered it, rent-free for up to 5 years and get a start up grant of £25,000.
Over the next few months the RSAde Group will be consolidating regional social networks and nings.
The aim will be to improve connectivity for Fellows, improve communication and reduce fragmentation.
If you would like further information on these changes please contact the RSAde team via the Digital Engagement group on this network.
