I have been involved in education for most of my working life, teaching in and managing schools. I have recently stepped outside full time education to give myself time to further investigate some broader issues and projects. In particular, I am interested in developing mentoring strategies for young people who might otherwise lack the motivation and/or resources to consider studying beyond GCSE level. These might be young people with few positive role models for further ambition, young people with a history of criminal activity, or young women who have dropped out of full time education due to pregnancy.
I am keen to discuss and develop some of my ideas with like-minded people, and will provide me with the inspiration to turn some of these ideas into a workable, practical strategies for real change.
