Robert Stephenson, born Dublin, Ireland, 1953 is an award winning social entrepreneur ( 2006 www.socialentrepreneurs.ie ) a veteran of the music and entertainments industries, he helped U2 in their start and more recently Jedward !! ( but please don’t hold that against him !! lol). Recognised for visionary and innovative work with young people, empowering kids to become change makers, Robert is tirelessly looking for solutions to the root causes of poverty and ignorance in society. With 30 years experience in music/entertainments/multimedia and education internationally, and a global network of professional, artistic and youth connections Robert is an agent for change.

The Blastbeat programme ran in over 60 Hub schools and youth centers in Greater London in 2010 touching into over 200 schools. 400 bands participated along with 930 young social entrepreneurs running 63 companies. This was part funded by the Dept for Education City Challenge scheme and the Transformation Trust..
The Blastbeat UK finals were staged at the O2 Arena on the 13th July 2010 in partnership with the Transformation Trust. Over 12,000 young people from schools and colleges all over the UK participated in the event, 60 student social enterprises completed the course in their schools and the top 30 presented their work, as well as the winning young unsigned bands who played the main stage to great reactions. Blastbeat has now created a new primary schools programme that piloted in London very successfully and is now ready for schools across the nation.
Blastbeat has also created a TV series around what it takes for young people to succeed in the Music/ Entertainments Industry that will air online from November of 2010 and on a national network from Spring 2011.

just in case you meet someone who could open a door, the idea I submit for Irish competition (your country your call) was called Think-Inn and the idea was to convert a chain of pubs into innovation and social hubs (a sub-version of the thinking hotel) that would use the Irish existing 'pub-culture' combined with the new processes to create an innovation culture in organisations.

we were not short listed, which means we can present this to anyone, and a few people who worked in this porposal with me are very enthusiastic about taking it further.
