Fellows' Coffeehouse: Education Matters

I wanted to update you all on this event, which followed the Education Matters lecture with Teach First on Monday, and to provide a place for those who attended that event to continue the discussion. Drawing on the RSA’s caffeinated origins in 18thcentury London, it was a chance for Fellows and Teach First ambassadors to discuss one of the key questions raised by the event: how can we best judge what makes a successful school?Attendees contributed responses to this question, which you can see…See More

This is a group to discuss and make progress on the proposal for a fellowship-led youth linking initiative.Mobilising the FRSA to link, in a structured way, with young people in order to provide information, advice, guidance and support. The broad outline is to build a network of young people, and tap into existing networks, creating an active link, both live and online, between young people and the FRSA.The motivation and focus for bringing these groups together is to:  1). develop a structured…See More

Women in the RSA through history

Recently I attended the launch of the Women Speakers' Network in the impressive surroundings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. You can watch the evening's presentations on the IMechE website (you'll need Microsoft's Silverlight video player) but the major theme was this: how can we explain the fact that more women don't participate in public speaking, and what… Continue

Hi Sam, an excellent blogpost indeed which I tweeted on behalf of Right Here yesterday (thanks to a Tweet by Mark Brown). I'm sorry I missed the event as it would have been very relevant to a project I've been leading on since March 2011, the Innovation Lab project with Right Here, Comic Relief and Nominet Trust. You can find out more here www.innovationlab.org.uk and my own reflections on social innovation and the voluntary sector: http://socialinnovationeurope.eu/node/2381 . I'll have a look at the Women Speakers' Network by the way, thanks for blogging about it, sounds really interesting!
