Simon Roberts commented on RSA Networks's group 'Bristol Network'
"Having been up to my eyeballs for most of the last month and then on holiday, I've missed much of what's going on. Sorry (particularly having made noises about doing something). But worryingly, I seem to be completely out of the loop on…"

Simon Roberts commented on RSA Networks's group 'Bristol Network'
"Fits with one of the ideas coming out of one of the 'RSA et al' evenings before Christmas - a festival of Bristol ideas (as something of an antidote to the tendency of Festival of Ideas to fly/train/taxi someone in from somewhere else…"

Simon Roberts commented on RSA Networks's group 'Bristol Network'
"Will do - and I'll set up a discussion forum on the finance/money piece ('Financing Bristol's future'?) once there are a few more of us signed up!"

Simon Roberts commented on RSA Networks's group 'Bristol Network'
"The local finance/money piece that was touched on briefly last night hits a lot of buttons for me in terms of what I think the RSA could be helping to catalyse in Bristol.  There's been a fair amount of talk about munipal bonds and the…"

Simon Roberts replied to Adrian Ashton's discussion 'co-ops as social enterprise' in the group Social Entrepreneurs Network
"OK. Let me put it another way. I still don't think being a co-operative 'automatically' qualifies you as a social enterprise. I'm aware, for example, that The Co-operative has, in the past at least, been accused on deeply…"

Simon Roberts replied to Adrian Ashton's discussion 'co-ops as social enterprise' in the group Social Entrepreneurs Network
"Hmm. Can of worms truly opened by Adrian as he predicted when he started this topic. Strikes me from the above that there is clearly a set of principles for co-operatives to sign up to which means that, by virtue of them signing up (and keeping…"

Simon Roberts replied to Adrian Ashton's discussion 'co-ops as social enterprise' in the group Social Entrepreneurs Network
"Assume there is a co-operatively-owned business designing missile guidance systems. Social Enterprise? I think not, however good its CSR activities. Strikes me that there are (at least) three dimensions upon which a social enterprise must…"

Chief Executive of the Centre for Sustainable Energy, a national charity that shares its knowledge and experience to help people change the way they think and act on energy.

My passion - and my work for the last 25 years (including Friends of the Earth and Triodos Bank) - is to find effective solutions, in policy and in practice, to cut drastically our contribution to climate change and to end the misery of cold homes suffered by millions in the UK every winter.

Dear Simon, thank you for sending me your link. I would like to direct my community to CSE and, speaking personally, as I try to work out which solar panels to put on my home, it will be an enormous help to be able to use your resource. Actually I learnt about the Solarsyphon the other week at the Ashden Awards, it looks like a good idea to me? Retro fitting would go down well where I live too - endless Victorian freezing cold terraced homes, all leaking energy like there's no tomorrow!
