Steve Burrows commented on Jonathan Jewell's group 'Corporate Integrity'
"Hi Jonathan. Perhaps the problem is not so much the existing model of corporate governance as the fact that it is so little understood or applied? I'm a Chartered Director so I'm inevitably a bit of a corp governance nerd. My observations:…"

Corporate Integrity

Every day we hear about the 'evil' actions of soulless corporates - maybe we need to get in there and make some changes. Is there a model of corporate governance that serves the world better than what we've come up with so far?See More

Yes
Profile information
I am a businessman & technologist. In the late 1970's I started my working life in broadcast engineering and analogue electronics, moving into digital electronics and computing at the beginning of the 1980's. As an early entrant to the world of microcomputing I found I was sought after for consultancy work, addressing both technical and business challenges: technology exploitation and the substantial organisational change that has impacted most businesses adopting this "new" technology. I have worked for many UK and multinational blue-chip clients.

In 1999 I joined the board of one of my clients, Vanilla Group, and served it for a decade as a director, leading it to become a world leader in its industry. I have leadership experience in all aspects of business including Finance, Operations, Sales and Customer Service. In 2009 I returned to consulting and established SBA, a business and technology advisory firm. My primary interests are performance improvement, corporate governance and the better exploitation of technology in business. I work as a board level advisor in these spheres.

I am a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT (FBCS), a Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP), a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD) and a Chartered Director (CDir), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

I am also Vice Chair of the Membership Board for BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, a member of the Computer Weekly 500 (CW500), an elected committee member of the Effective Leadership in IT forum (ELITE), and a director of BCS (Isle of Man). I am co-founder of the Isle of Man Non-Executive Directors Register (NEDS IOM) and the Isle of Man's Business Sales Agency BusinessSales.im, and founder and secretary of the Isle of Man ICT industry body MICTA.

As you might guess, I live in the Isle of Man so my opportunities for physical participation in Fellowship activities are limited. Delighted to hear from anyone who wants to get in touch.
