Do you know anyone who you think would make a great Fellow of the RSA?

We are always on the look out for people who are committed to our shared value of improving the world we live in. Perhaps someone with an interest in contemporary social issues or a willingness to turn innovative ideas into action. If so, do tell us online at www.theRSA.org/nominate.

Mashable's Social Good Summit (Part Two)

After a short break for networking after a packed first half, Mashable’s Social Good Summit resumed. From the opening of the Summit, the audience was anticipating the appearance of Ted Turner, the event’s guest of honor, who was scheduled to attend as the final speaker of the day—an appropriate choice being that the Social Good Summit was sponsored by the… Continue

Mashable's Social Good Summit (Part One)

With the UN’s announcement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a conversation has begun in both public and private sectors about what the world has decided are the world’s biggest problems—issues ranging from poverty and hunger to gender equality and environmental sustainability. Revolutionising our approach to Public Health

We await the White Paper on Public Health which is due to be published in the autumn.

I for one. can't wait for this, as the coalition government has proclaimed it more or less as a new dawn for public health, shifting it in the mindsets of people from a national campaign to a national movement, which has a national vision, led by local expertise, driven by evidence and founded on social responsibility.

This is a very sensible and enlightened way forward - making it everybody's…

Glue for binding community

A friend pointed me to The Glue Project yesterday, which is an exploration of what makes communities work - both on and offline. The discussion has been started by Douglas Atkin who used to work for Meetup - one of the largest group organising sites. I found some of the conversations fascinating not least because of the research I have been doing with David Gauntlett and other amazing people… Continue

how do we know how good we are?

ok - maybe a bit of an abstract question, but how do we as support providers, advisors and consultants assure ourselves and others as to our value, our quality, that the types of approach we take are appropriate to their needs and culture, and so on.

The easy answer is to cite some accreditaton or testimonial from previous clients, but I have an idea that we could go beyond that and start to report on the impacts of our professional practices to assure customers and clients that…

Projects & 21st century enlightenment: requesting feedback

Hello all,

I recently posted a piece on RSA Comment to explain how RSA projects connect with the notion of 21st century enlightenment. It's obviously just a first step as this purpose idea takes root more deeply in our ways of thinking and working, so I would be very interested to hear your full and frank feedback.

The piece is here, so please feel free to leave a comment underneath, or if you prefer it… Continue
