I’ve just stepped back from my role, volunteering to organise RSA Fellow’s events in Kent. I have carried out this work for around four years. I never particularly had a passion for such things but I have always felt the potential when Fellows get together.
I have helped coordinate events on subjects from the economy to the environment, talks from local people of merit and local organisations. I have helped set up talks, panel discussions, group discussions and network meetings. This led me to help on local projects and serve on the Fellowship Council.
There were days when the frustration of trying to find a venue, arrange a speaker or find a date for a meeting when several very busy Fellows could all attend did make me question my involvement but once the event was running and I got to meet the interesting, intelligent, engaged and encouraging Fellowship, it was always worth it.
If you have the time and the inclination a strongly recommend you get involved with your local Fellows network.
Over the next few months the RSAde Group will be consolidating regional social networks and nings.
The aim will be to improve connectivity for Fellows, improve communication and reduce fragmentation.
If you would like further information on these changes please contact the RSAde team via the Digital Engagement group on this network.
