This is a group to discuss and make progress on the proposal for a fellowship-led youth linking initiative.
Mobilising the FRSA to link, in a structured way, with young people in order to provide information, advice, guidance and support.
The broad outline is to build a network of young people, and tap into existing networks, creating an active link, both live and online, between young people and the FRSA.
The motivation and focus for bringing these groups together is to:
1). develop a structured and networked approach for the FRSA to provide ongoing information, advice, guidance and support to young people throughout the country (and vice versa)
2). provide the means for young people to support each other, develop networks and partnerships, and to generate ideas, innovation, enterprise and social action
3). create the opportunity for the sharing of social capital

Comment by Barbara Anderson on May 24, 2012 at 9:41 Hi Matt,
I wanted to introduce myself and maybe pick your brains on what you think is working well/ less well in London. I'm going to be standing for London Chair. Are you still intending to be at the event in Oxford Street today? If so, hope to see you there.
Best Wishes
Barbara
Comment by Matt Lent on May 24, 2012 at 9:14 Hi Emrys, would be really happy for you to be involved. We'll be sure to post all updates and events news here.
Comment by Emrys Green on May 22, 2012 at 12:42 Unfortunately I won't be able to make Thursday's event. But as someone who's been a fellow since the age of 20 and currently working on a range of youth initiatives nationwide I'm very interested in how this progresses. Hopefully I'll make a meeting soon.
Comment by Matt Lent on May 22, 2012 at 12:34 The latest RSAnimate is very relevant to this initiative.
Comment by Matt Lent on May 22, 2012 at 12:30 Thanks David. We'll definitely be following up with Nominet, and this challenge sounds very relevant.
Thinking both of the workshop next week that Alice highlighted, and the work of this group, you might be interested in the Working Well £150,000 challenge announced by the Design Council and Nominet Trust. It is about helping young people develop their talents and make a living, using digital products and services.
Comment by Matt Lent on May 9, 2012 at 10:30 By the way, we agreed that the initial working name for this project will be the RSA Fellows Youth Network.
You can read all the other decisions and agreed actions from the 1st steering group meeting in the discussion forum, 'Steering group meeting notes and reflections'.
Comment by Matt Lent on May 9, 2012 at 10:27 Excellent Keith, look forward to seeing you there.
Comment by Keith Horsfall on May 9, 2012 at 7:34 Hi, the 24th looks really interesting and stimulating. I booked in and, assuming the day job doesn't get in the way, I'll be there. keith
Comment by John Rees on May 8, 2012 at 15:48 Hi,
I'd really like to attend the meeting on the 24th but unfortunately I already have some training commitments on that date and cannot leave Yorkshire. I'd be grateful to be kept updated.
best wishes to all,
John

For those die-hard RSA Animate fans, here's a little glimpse at what we like to do after all that hard work. That's Andrew 'never knowingly-not-wearing-a-stripey-top' Park - the illustrator extraordinaire behind the RSA Animate images.
